Hi! Here's the playlist for Show 96: FC Gobble Gobble, which aired Tuesday November 16, 2021:
Hi! Tune in to Show 96: FC Gobble Gobble this Tuesday November 15 at 7 pm CST!
As I completed this playlist I realized it fits the 'French Commie' criteria: all Francophone and former Communist artists except for one track max.
The last official installment was FC80 back in Dec/Jan, so we're about due - especially since the 80s NYE special next month won't meet the French Commie criteria.
Thanksgiving is such a wack holiday (the iffy history, the idea of cramming everyone on planes/cars at the same time for a trip lasting less than a week, everyone buying food at the same time, Black Friday...wow the whole thing is such a capitalist scam...then throw in relatives you probably don't need to see, etc.)...so why not spice it up with some nice and nasteeee grooves?
Rest assured though: there is no Thanksgiving theme involved.
Plus this is the closest we'll ever get to Thanksgiving, because 3rd Tues and 4th Thurs don't mix!
P.S. "Gobble gobble" refers to turkey, not that microphone. Pervert! 😄

Hi! Here's the playlist for Show 95: Covers Undercover, which aired on Tuesday November 2, 2021:
Pardon my lateness! Tune in to Show 95: Covers Undercover Tuesday (tomorrow) November 2 at 7 pm.
This show features "foreign" songs and their respective "foreign" cover versions. This is in contrast to a band covering "Yesterday" or "Satisfaction", etc.
In a few instances the songs have the same title and can be visually identified as covers. In most of the examples though, the two versions are in two different languages (with different titles) and could only be identified aurally as being the same song. That means this show came together gradually over time, through general listening and luck.
In some instances, I'm not sure which was the original, or if both versions were covers of another version. Exciting stuff!!

Hi! Here's the playlist for Show 92, which aired on Tuesday September 21, 2021:
Greetings! Tune in to Show 92 this Tuesday September 21!
I'm so pumped about this one, which features some heavy-hitting 70s gems.
PREACH ALERT: I really believe this era was the pinnacle of the symbiosis between arrangement, production, and industry. Eras before and after may have had one or two of the factors, but they all really came together in the 70s. The budget, staff, and infrastructure were all there to create amazing arrangements, production capabilities were at their peak, and genres could seamlessly merge together on one record.
Of course it was instantly ignored or dismissed by the rock establishment in favor of what was often pretentious sloppy noodling.
Whatever. Keep reissuing "the classics"...peppermint-swirl $200 'limited' repress of an album that sold 50 million copies. 😎
